The first NPCI received 21,000 entries from more than forty countries. Every winning image stood on its own, reflecting both the photographic culture of the time and the versatility and potential of the 35mm camera.
These photographs were chosen because of the range and depth of expression they displayed. The judges for this first NPCI were hopeful that future competitions would reveal even more creative possibilities for Nikon 35mm photography.
