Isabel (Julia Roberts), an intense, trendy fashion photographer in New York, moves in with her boyfriend, Luke (Ed Harris), who has two children from a previous marriage to Jacky (Susan Sarandon). Because of Luke's busy schedule, it falls to the scattered Isabel to take care of the kids when they're visiting from Jacky's ranch in the suburbs.
After Jacky is diagnosed with cancer, she begins to worry about the prospect of her kids being left in the care of this irresponsible young woman.
It's a lesson in parenting, a lesson in family values and a lesson in acceptance.

"Nikon E2/E2s"

This digital SLR camera with micro-optics was the result of a 1995 collaboration between Nikon and Fuji Film. Nikon sold this camera as the E2 or E2s, while Fuji Film sold it as the DS505/505A.

Though there is a Nikon logo in the viewfinder area, the body has a FUJIX logo on the body. Isabel says to her assistant, "Pass me the digital camera." She takes some pictures then uses Adobe Photoshop to edit them. The client, Valentino, is very happy with the photos - is it Isabel's technique or the power of the camera ? Whatever the case, one thing is clear: Julia Roberts must be strong because she handles the heavy E2 (or E2s) with ease.

Isabel takes pictures of Jacky and her children while they're horseback riding.
Later in the film, she takes pictures of Jacky reading to the children and of the three of them skating. The camera she uses is our flagship model, the Nikon F5.
Seems Isabel the professional is picky even when taking everyday pictures for herself.

Isabel uses the F5, mounted on a tripod, and a discontinued SB-26 Speedlight to take a family photo at Christmas.
The scene briefly changes to black and white when Isabel presses the shutter release.
