| Q.No.4198: | What are Scene Modes? |
| Ans : | These are special modes that offer automatic adjustment to the most appropriate settings,
based on prevailing shooting conditions.
Set the Mode dial to SCENE, select one of 15 Scene Modes from the menu on the LCD Monitor, and shoot. The 15 scene modes available are as follows: |
| - | Portrait
Capture a soft portrait of a subject standing out against a beautifully defocused background. (Degree of defocusing depends on brightness.) |
| - | Party/Indoor
Take an atmospheric indoor party photo in which both the main subject and background are balanced in exposure. (Be careful of camera shake.) |
| - | Night Portrait
Capture a night scene with a subject under natural exposure against an illuminated background. (Be careful of camera shake.) |
| - | Sports
Capture a dynamic sports shot when the subject is moving fast. By pressing the shutter release button deeply and keeping it pressed, you can shoot continuously at approximately 1.5 fps. |
| - | Beach/Snow
Capture a subject clearly and brightly against a background of snow or a sunlit body of water. |
| - | Landscape
Take distant scenes with excellent color contrast and clarity |
| - | Sunset
Capture a beautiful sunset in all its splendor. (Take care to avoid camera shake.) |
| - | Dusk/Dawn
Captures a beautiful dim light before the sunrise or after the sunset. (Be careful to avoid camera shake.) |
| - | Night Landscape
Capture stunning nighttime scenes using a slow shutter speed, without using a Speedlight. (Set the camera on a steady surface, or use a tripod.) |
| - | Close Up
This mode makes detailed subjects such as flowers and insects stand out from the background in stunning color. |
| - | Museum
Use for taking pictures in indoor locations such as museums where use of a flash is prohibited. (Note: In some museums and exhibitions, picture taking is prohibited, even without flash. Be sure to obtain permission before taking any pictures.) |
| - | Fireworks Show
At last, users can capture the true color and excitement of a fireworks display. (We recommend using a tripod to avoid camera shake.) |
| - | Copy
This mode is convenient when shooting text or drawings on white material such as paper or whiteboard. |
| - | Back Light
The Speedlight fires to brighten a backlit subject that would otherwise come out dark if no flash was used. |
| - | Panorama Assist
Lets you take several side-by-side images, all at the same exposure and white balance setting, then combine them later using the supplied photo editing software to create spectacular wide-vista photos. When shooting at slow shutter speed, as with Night Portrait, Dusk/Dawn, and Night Landscape, noise reduction function will automatically be activated to reduce the noise. When this function is on, it takes approximately twice as much time to save a picture to the CF card. |
