| Ans : | This design distinguishes the "hot" or "live" and "ground" portions of the plug connector.
This design is necessary in order to meet strict international product safety and liability regulations. As a specific standard for electrical connectors is yet to be determined in Japan, plugs can generally be inserted in corresponding inlets or outlets regardless of orientation. In the U.S. however, plugs and their corresponding inlets or outlets are designed so that the plug can be inserted in one direction only. On the MH-19 AC adapter plug and AC inlet, the square side is "ground" and the round side is "hot" or "live". |
