The ferrite core is used when an external Speedlight (available separately) is used with the camera.
*Attaching the ferrite core
When an external Speedlight (available separately) is used with the COOLPIX4500, attach and/or remove the connection cable from the ferrite core (attached to the camera body) as shown in the illustration below.
*The ferrite core is compatible with the Multi-Flash Adapter AS-E900 (included with Multi-Flash Bracket Unit SK-E900), Sync Cord SC-25 (included with SK-9 Bracket Set), and the SC-18 and SC-19 TTL Multi-Flash Sync Cords.
