Applicable model(s) D100, D1X, D1H

Q.No.3138: When a JPEG or TIFF image captured with a D1X, D1H, or D100 at a color setting of Mode 2 is opened directly in Photoshop 7.0, the included color profile is recognized as sRGB.
Ans : As sRGB is the recommended information for image-data color space with the DCF standard, sRGB is listed in the color-space information for images captured with the D100 and D1 series digital cameras.
Therefore, despite images having been captured at a setting of Mode II, they will be recognized as sRGB when opened directly from Photoshop 7.0.

The following explains the procedures for opening Mode II images directly from Photoshop 7.0.
1. When Photoshop's working space profile is set to a color profile other than sRGB
¥ When the image is opened, a dialog "Embedded Profile Mismatch" will be displayed.
To respond to this dialog, select the option of the removal of an embedded profile (don't color manage the image) and click OK.
¥ Once the image has opened, select Assign Profile... from the Mode option in the Image menu to display the Assign Profile window.
Select Profile and choose Adobe RGB(1998) from the pull-down menu and then click OK.
2. If Photoshop's working space color profile is sRGB:
¥ Photoshop will automatically convert images to the sRGB profile when images are opened.
Once the image has opened, select Assign Profile... from the Mode option in the Image menu to display the Assign Profile window.
Select Profile and choose Adobe RGB(1998) from the pull-down menu and then click OK.

When images are opened with Nikon Capture, color settings for the captured image are read from the tag information called maker notes.
Due to this, automatic conversion to the most appropriate color profile is possible.
