Q.No.2702: The camera is not recognized in the Device Manager, but appears under "Unknown Devices" or "Other Devices" (Windows 98, Windows 98 SE).
Ans : If the COOLPIX 995, 775, or 885 is not correctly registered in the Device Manager:
1. Double click the "NIKON DSC E995" (or E775 or E885) listing under "Unknown Devices" or "Other Devices" in the Device Manager.
2. The "NIKON DSC E995 [or E775 or E885] Properties" window will be displayed.
Open the "General" tab and click Reinstall driver....
3. The Update Device Driver Wizard dialog will be displayed.
Click Next.
4. Select the "Search for a better driver" option and click Next.
5. Insert the Nikon View 4 CD in the CD-ROM drive (hold down the shift key to mount the disk without the Welcome window being displayed).

Select the "Specify a location" option and enter the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive followed by "\Inf" (if your CD is drive D:, enter "D:\Inf"), then click Next.
In the "Browse for folder" dialog, navigate to the Inf folder in the root directory of the CD (if your CD is drive D:, navigate to "D:\Inf") and click Next.

Select the "CD-ROM drive" option and click Next.
(If the Welcome window is displayed when the CD is inserted, click Exit to close the Welcome window.)
6. A dialog will appear stating that Windows has found the "Nikon Digital Camera Mass Storage Driver."
Click Next.
7. When installation is complete, click Finish to exit the Wizard.
8. Open the properties dialog for the Nikon Digital Camera Mass Storage Driver, click the General tab, and confirm that the device is functioning normally.
Close the properties dialog.
9. The Add New Hardware Wizard will be displayed.
Click Next.
10. Select the search option and click Next.
11. Confirm that the Nikon View 4 CD is inserted in the CD-ROM drive and click Next.
12. A dialog will appear stating that Windows has found a driver for the "Nikon Digital Camera Controller."
Click Next.
13. When installation is complete, click Finish to exit the Wizard.
Click OK to exit the System Properties dialog.
