| Q.No.2702: | The camera is not recognized in the Device Manager, but appears under "Unknown Devices" or "Other Devices" (Windows 98, Windows 98 SE). |
| Ans : | If the COOLPIX 995, 775, or 885 is not correctly registered in the Device Manager: |
| 1. | Double click the "NIKON DSC E995" (or E775 or E885) listing under "Unknown Devices" or "Other Devices" in the Device Manager. |
| 2. | The "NIKON DSC E995 [or E775 or E885] Properties" window will be displayed.
Open the "General" tab and click Reinstall driver.... |
| 3. | The Update Device Driver Wizard dialog will be displayed. Click Next. |
| 4. | Select the "Search for a better driver" option and click Next. |
| 5. | Insert the Nikon View 4 CD in the CD-ROM drive (hold down the shift key to mount the disk without
the Welcome window being displayed).
Nikon View 4.0 Select the "Specify a location" option and enter the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive followed by "\Inf" (if your CD is drive D:, enter "D:\Inf"), then click Next. In the "Browse for folder" dialog, navigate to the Inf folder in the root directory of the CD (if your CD is drive D:, navigate to "D:\Inf") and click Next. Nikon View 4.1, 4.1.1, or 4.2 Select the "CD-ROM drive" option and click Next. (If the Welcome window is displayed when the CD is inserted, click Exit to close the Welcome window.) |
| 6. | A dialog will appear stating that Windows has found the "Nikon Digital Camera Mass Storage Driver."
Click Next. |
| 7. | When installation is complete, click Finish to exit the Wizard. |
| 8. | Open the properties dialog for the Nikon Digital Camera Mass Storage Driver, click the General tab,
and confirm that the device is functioning normally.
Close the properties dialog. |
| 9. | The Add New Hardware Wizard will be displayed. Click Next. |
| 10. | Select the search option and click Next. |
| 11. | Confirm that the Nikon View 4 CD is inserted in the CD-ROM drive and click Next. |
| 12. | A dialog will appear stating that Windows has found a driver for the "Nikon Digital Camera
Controller." Click Next. |
