| Q.No.1946: | How many photos can I store on a memory card? What is the compression ratio? |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Ans : | The table below is a guide to the number of images that can be stored on Nikon memory cards of
various sizes at different combinations of image quality and size.
The figures given are those displayed in the camera's exposure-count display. The amount of images that can be stored on memory cards of other volumes will vary in proportion to the capacity of the card. Memory Card Capacity for the COOLPIX885 (Figures for Reference Only)

| Notes : | Because images are compressed using JPEG compression, file size will vary with the composition and
type of subject.
As a result, memory cards may hold fewer images than indicated in the above table. Compression ratios for FINE, NORMAL, and BASIC are approximately 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16, respectively. Photographs taken at a setting of Ultra HS are recorded at a size of 320 x 240 pixels and an image quality of NORMAL, meaning that the image files produced are roughly one quarter the size of VGA images recorded at an image quality of NORMAL (i.e., about four times as many images can be recorded). Image quality is automatically set to NORMAL when Ultra HS is in effect; no other image quality settings can be selected while this setting is in effect. |
