Applicable model(s) D1

Q.No.1294: Photographs taken with the D1 show a colored cast.
Ans ¥ If the photograph was taken with white balance set to A (auto) under any of the following lighting, use the white-balance setting appropriate to the light source: incandescent, fluorescent, direct sunlight, flash lighting, overcast, or shade.
¥ If you are using a white-balance setting other than PRE (preset white balance), try fine-tuning white balance using manual white-balance adjustment. Detailed figures are given in QA No. 1223.
¥ If the photograph was taken under fluorescent lighting, the source of the cast may be flicker.
Set the shutter speed to a value slower than 1/60 seconds if the lights are powered by an alternating current of 60 Hz, or to 1/50 seconds or slower for 50 Hz.
¥ Try using preset white balance.
(Note that extreme over- or under-exposure at the time white balance is set may prevent the camera from measuring a new value for preset white balance. Note also that the preset setting takes into account the results of the last white balance measurement when determining a new value for white balance. If the color temperature of the light source differs sharply from that used when the last measurement was made, measuring white balance several times in succession will produce more accurate results. When using a white object to measure a value for preset white balance, adjust exposure settings so that the object would be photographed as gray.)
